Indian Startup ePlane Company Agrees to Supply 788 Electric Air Ambulances in $1 Billion Deal

India, Chennai - The ePlane Company, an Indian electric aircraft startup, announced on Monday an agreement to supply 788 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to International Critical-Care Air Transfer Team (ICATT), an air ambulance service provider.

The non-binding agreement, valued at over $1 billion, aims to deploy the eVTOLs across all districts in India. The aircraft will initially have a range of approximately 110 kilometers, later expandable to over 200 kilometers. ePlane is targeting commercial operations by the second half of 2026, with an initial production of 100 units annually.

The ePlane Company is a Chennai-based startup, affiliated with Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. It recently also developed its Series B and partnered with Sona Comstar for air taxi services in India.
