Indian Prime Minister Modi Launches Major Development Initiatives Worth Over Rs 56,000 Crore in Maharashtra

New Delhi, Oct 4 (PTI) – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Maharashtra on Saturday to inaugurate a series of development projects totaling over Rs 56,000 crore. This initiative includes significant investments in agriculture and infrastructure, aimed at empowering farmers and enhancing transportation in the region.

During his visit, Modi will inaugurate the Banjara Virasat Museum in Washim, celebrating the heritage of the Banjara community, and will oversee the launch of projects worth Rs 23,300 crore focused on agriculture and animal husbandry. Additionally, he will flag off a new metro train service in Mumbai and lay the foundation for various infrastructure projects, including the Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project and the Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension.

As part of his commitment to support farmers, Modi will disburse the 18th installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi scheme, amounting to Rs 20,000 crore, benefiting approximately 9.4 crore farmers. With this installment, the total funds disbursed under the scheme will reach around Rs 3.45 lakh crore.

The visit comes at a crucial time as Maharashtra prepares for assembly elections, with the Election Commission expected to announce the schedule soon. The initiatives launched are expected to have significant implications for the state's agricultural sector and overall economic development.
