Google is rolling out a new feature in its Messages app aimed at improving user experience by allowing them to easily unsubscribe from unwanted RCS messages. The upcoming 'Stop' button will let users send a quick command to halt the influx of promotional messages from businesses.
In the beta version of Google Messages, users will see a prominent Stop button when receiving RCS business messages. A single click will send the keyword 'Stop' to the sender, effectively ending the barrage of messages. This feature is particularly beneficial for Android users who frequently receive unwanted advertisements when RCS is enabled.
Previously, users relied on the 'Block & Report Spam' option, which often proved inadequate as block lists could be wiped clean when changing devices or resetting phones. In contrast, the new Stop button is linked to the user's phone number, ensuring that they remain free from spam even after switching devices.
This innovation reflects a growing trend among younger users who are increasingly turning away from Google for their online searches, opting for alternative platforms to find content.
