Microsoft and Atom Computing Unveil Advanced Quantum Computer

Відредаговано: Xelena S

Microsoft and Atom Computing have achieved a significant milestone in quantum computing by creating and entangling 24 logical qubits made from neutral atoms. This advancement allows for error detection, correction, and calculations with 28 logical qubits.

The result is a 'reliable, state-of-the-art' quantum computer integrated with Azure Elements, utilizing logical qubits and Microsoft's qubit virtualization system. This commercial innovation will be available by 2025.

This quantum computer will implement a qubit virtualization system and leverage hardware based on neutral atoms, enabling scientists to access a device that combines logical qubits with high-performance cloud computing and artificial intelligence models.

Microsoft emphasizes that while the offering targets scientific discovery, it also explores how quantum capabilities can solve complex problems across various industries. Ben Bloom, CEO of Atom Computing, notes that this system will facilitate rapid progress in fields like chemistry and materials science.

A quantum computer utilizes quantum mechanics to perform calculations more efficiently than classical computers, processing data with quantum bits or qubits. It can solve complex problems, essential for accelerating scientific advancements, including drug discovery, financial investments, and transforming supply chains.
