In his announcement, Mosseri stated, "You'll be able to do whatever you want with your footage, change your outfit, the environment you're in, add chains, whatever you can think of." The demonstration showcased smooth transitions, raising expectations for the tool's potential.
This announcement follows OpenAI's recent launch of a video generation model for its subscribers, highlighting the competitive landscape in AI tools. Meta aims for its AI assistant to be the most widely used globally, boasting nearly 600 million monthly users.
While Mosseri did not specify an exact release date, he indicated that Movie Gen is expected to be available in 2025, with more information to come in the near future.
