Ukraine to Receive 4,000 AI-Powered Drones from Germany

Ukraine is set to begin receiving 4,000 innovative AI-powered strike drones from Germany starting in December, following a contract signed between the German company Helsing and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense in September 2024.

These drones, known as Mini-Taurus, are designed with advanced AI software that enables them to effectively evade Russian GPS jamming and other electronic warfare measures. They have a flight range four times greater than current Ukrainian drones and can target tanks, fortified positions, and moving targets.

The German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius emphasized the significance of these deliveries, stating, "I am very pleased that the supply of these AI strike drones is starting now. This weapon will allow the Ukrainian armed forces to strike high-priority Russian military targets, such as command posts or logistical facilities."

Despite these advancements, Germany has not yet approved the delivery of long-range Taurus missiles, which have a range of 500 km, exceeding that of American ATACMS and British-French Storm Shadow missiles.
