Elon Musk Unveils New Autonomous Tesla Products, Including Robotaxi and Optimus Robots

At the 'We, Robot' event in Burbank, California, Tesla CEO Elon Musk introduced several new autonomous products, including the Robotaxi and the Optimus humanoid robots.

The Robotaxi, a self-driving vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals, is expected to cost under $30,000 and launch before 2027. Musk stated, "I think it's going to be a glorious future," emphasizing the safety of autonomous cars, which he claims will be ten times safer than human-driven vehicles.

Additionally, Musk revealed the Robovan, designed for up to 20 passengers and capable of transporting goods. No price or release date was provided for the Robovan.

In showcasing the Tesla Bot, dubbed Optimus, Musk highlighted its capabilities in household tasks, with a projected price range of $20,000 to $30,000. The robots demonstrated their functions by serving drinks and interacting with attendees during the event.

Musk noted that Tesla's Model 3 and Model Y will transition to unsupervised self-driving by 2025, starting in California and Texas, pending regulatory approval.

Despite the ambitious plans, Tesla has faced scrutiny over its autonomous systems, including recalls and investigations related to safety issues in the past year.
