A global network of local organizations, GLFx, is expanding its reach to Latin America, supporting initiatives focused on ecosystem restoration, food sovereignty, biodiversity preservation, and climate resilience. The program, launched by the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) in 2020, has already established over 50 seedbeds in the Global South, promoting collaboration between organizations.

In Latin America, 17 seedbeds have been established in 11 countries, including Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil. These organizations, often led by indigenous communities, are implementing a range of projects, including native tree planting, soil regeneration, seed collection, agroecology, and ecotourism. They have planted over 400,000 trees, restored nearly 4,000 hectares of land, and engaged over 26,000 people.

One notable example is Uru Uru Team in Bolivia, an indigenous organization led by young people dedicated to restoring Lake Uru Uru, which has been contaminated by minerals and plastics. The group is working to recover healthy fishing, agriculture, and livestock practices.

The GLFx network provides these organizations with resources and opportunities, including funding, training, and global visibility. This support empowers local communities to address environmental challenges and build a more sustainable future.
