Trafigura Expands Oil Exports from Argentina to the United States Amid Rising Global Demand

On September 29, 2024, from Puerto Galván, Bahía Blanca, Trafigura announced a significant operation aimed at enhancing oil exports from Argentina to the United States. This initiative provides Vaca Muerta producers with an additional export point to international markets, connecting oil fields with the port through a comprehensive logistical solution.

The operation involved over 2,000 truck trips from various oil fields in Neuquén province to the modern truck unloading facility at the Bahía Blanca refinery, which directly connects to Puerto Galván. The successful loading of the Aframax vessel 'Safeen Strength' marked a significant milestone, with nearly 230 meters in length.

This operation adds to previous exports of 30,000 m³ in July 2023 and 46,000 m³ in August 2023, facilitating the shipment of nearly 150,000 m³ of crude oil from Vaca Muerta producers. Another export of 95,000 m³ is anticipated in October, with expectations for continuous volume increases in the coming months.

In parallel, Trafigura is collaborating with Oldelval on the 'Derivation Project' to upgrade the pipeline from the main system, specifically the Allen-Puerto Rosales segment, to the Bahía Blanca refinery, which will enhance the refinery's capacity to receive up to 24,000 m³ of crude daily.
