Ukraine Intercepts 95 Drones in Massive Russian Attack; Damage Reported in Multiple Regions

On Sunday, February 16, 2025, Ukraine intercepted 95 drones during a large-scale overnight Russian attack. The assault damaged infrastructure in Mykolaiv, located in the south of the country, and caused further damage in the Odesa, Kyiv, and Sumy regions.

Russian forces launched 143 drones, including Iranian Shahed models, along with decoy unmanned aerial vehicles and two ballistic missiles targeting Odesa from Crimea, as reported by the Ukrainian Air Force. While 95 drones were intercepted across 10 regions, 46 disappeared from radar without causing damage.

In Mykolaiv, nine drones were shot down, according to Vitali Kim, head of the Regional Military Administration. The attack resulted in damage to critical infrastructure, five multi-story residences, and other civilian buildings. A 64-year-old man was injured, and some residents are without central heating due to the incident.

The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported no damage to critical infrastructure in the capital. However, seven private homes and a warehouse were damaged in two districts of the region, with no reported casualties.

Russian forces continued attacks on frontline regions such as Kherson and Donetsk using drones, guided bombs, and artillery. In Kherson, two police officers were injured by explosives dropped from a Russian drone, and a university, school, apartment building, and two private homes sustained damage from separate drone and artillery strikes. Donetsk region cities were attacked 11 times on Saturday, leading to the evacuation of 59 residents, including eight children, to safer areas.
