EU Awaits Notice of US Steel and Aluminum Tariffs, M23 Rebels Seize Property in Goma, and Trump Attends Super Bowl

The European Union has yet to receive notice of any tariffs to be introduced on steel and aluminum imports to the US. Levies of 25% are foreseen, with Brussels saying it is ready to react with countermeasures.

In Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, rebels of the M23 have been accused of seizing property belonging to Congolese political leaders. The rebels have been occupying the city for two weeks, and reports of looting and confiscation of assets have been documented by local civil society.

US President Donald Trump attended the Super Bowl, becoming the first sitting White House incumbent to do so. He was met with both cheers and boos from the crowd.
