Meta Responds to Complaints Over Automatic Follows of Trump and Vance on Social Media

Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, addressed concerns regarding users automatically following President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. Following Trump's assumption of the POTUS social media handle, users who followed former President Joe Biden were reportedly transferred to Trump's account.

Meta spokesperson Andy Stone clarified that the transition process is standard during a presidential change. He stated, 'Those accounts are managed by the White House so with a new administration, the content on those Pages changes.' The follower count for Trump's account decreased from Biden's 18 million to approximately 16.9 million within days.

Meanwhile, the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act continues to enforce a ban on TikTok from U.S. app stores, leading to Instagram becoming a popular alternative for users searching for TikTok.
