Xiaomi has introduced WinPlay, an innovative application enabling gamers to run Steam and other platform games on HyperOS devices without an internet connection. This development aims to make high-quality gaming more accessible.
Unlike cloud gaming services like Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce Now, WinPlay installs games directly on devices, allowing offline play. The app supports Bluetooth, enabling connections to mice, keyboards, and game controllers.
Zhanq Guoquan, Xiaomi's Software Department Director, stated that WinPlay creates a virtual space for PC games, ensuring smooth performance. Early tests show titles like Need for Speed Most Wanted and Tomb Raider 9 running at an average of 45 frames per second with minimal energy consumption.
Currently in closed beta, WinPlay is exclusive to users in China and is compatible with the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro, equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Future compatibility is expected with devices featuring newer Snapdragon processors.
