Tata and JLR to Jointly Produce EVs

Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) are collaborating to manufacture electric vehicles for both domestic and international markets.

Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran announced that this initiative aims to reduce costs and leverage JLR's brand for future market capture.

Two distinct models will be developed based on JLR's Electrified Modular Architecture platform, with each company producing one model.

The vehicles will be exported from Tata's Sanand facility in Gujarat.

Chandrasekaran indicated that further details on export plans will be shared within a year.

The first vehicle, named 'Abhinyā', will be manufactured on the new platform acquired from Ford.

Additionally, JLR plans to produce electric vehicles in its facilities across the UK, Europe, and China, with a goal to electrify all their brands by 2030.

The Merseyside plant in the UK will be transformed into an all-electric facility, while the Solihull and Nitra plants will be upgraded to produce electric vehicles by 2030.
