KDDI Launches Unlimited 5G/LTE Service for Laptops

Editado por: Veronika Nazarova

KDDI announced on January 21 the launch of 'ConnectIN,' a corporate service that integrates unlimited 5G/LTE mobile connectivity into laptops. The service includes data charges in the purchase price of the PC, allowing users to access unlimited data without additional payment or contract procedures.

This initiative aims to simplify connectivity for businesses, eliminating the need for separate mobile Wi-Fi routers and data management, especially as demand for stable connections for services like generative AI increases.

Major PC manufacturers, including Dynabook, Lenovo Japan, Panasonic, and VAIO, have committed to selling ConnectIN-compatible laptops. Initially targeted at corporate clients, some manufacturers are also considering personal sales.

The service utilizes eSIM technology, enabling 5G/LTE connectivity directly from the laptop without requiring separate contracts. The duration of unlimited service varies by manufacturer, with Dynabook offering a four-year unlimited plan.

KDDI representatives indicated that consumer models may incorporate their 'povo' service to better meet individual user needs.
