LAB19: A New Hub for AI Innovation in Spain

LAB19, an experimental hub for artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies, was launched in June 2024 at ElPozo Alimentación in Alhama de Murcia, Spain. The initiative aims to transform bold ideas into innovative projects through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Participants from diverse fields, including STEM and business disciplines, have already generated numerous disruptive ideas. The first edition of the Business Tech LAB program produced 70 ideas, with two advancing to prototypes. The second edition yielded 53 multisectoral ideas, leading to four ongoing prototypes across various industries.

Pablo Lorente, CFO of Grupo Fuertes, described LAB19 as a "factory of ideas" focused on developing solutions that enhance market impact and technological advancement while promoting sustainability. The prototypes aim to improve operational efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and optimize resources.

LAB19 collaborates with the University of Murcia, UCAM, and other organizations to align its projects with market trends and needs. This strategic collaboration allows the lab to stay updated on the latest innovations and receive mentorship.

Grupo Fuertes has integrated analytical and predictive AI solutions in its operations for years, and LAB19 serves as its dedicated AI research laboratory. The initiative reinforces the company's commitment to technological excellence and innovation in the global business landscape.

LAB19 is also a talent incubator, providing students with essential tools and knowledge to face future challenges. Through specialized training, participants gain skills in innovation, communication, and advanced technologies, preparing them for the evolving job market.
