Philippines Introduces AI Course Builder to Enhance Workforce Skills

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) in the Philippines has announced plans to implement an AI course builder to modernize training curricula. This initiative aims to streamline the creation and updating of educational programs, ensuring they remain relevant to the evolving labor market.

Executive Director El Cid Castillo emphasized the need for government agencies to adapt to technological advancements to improve employability. 'There's a lot that the world offers and we want to explore it for the advantage of the Filipino workforce,' he stated.

For its proposed 2025 budget, Tesda has requested an additional allocation of P74.66 million to support this initiative, which is part of a broader strategy to enhance the skills of the workforce in an AI-driven economy. Castillo assured that the integration of AI is not about replacing workers but rather about adapting job roles to leverage technology.

In addition to the AI course builder, Tesda plans to introduce other tech-driven initiatives, including an AI-powered labor market researcher and a scholarship information system, to better prepare Filipino workers for the digital age.
