Tesla Unveils Cybercab in the UK, Aims for Self-Driving Fleet by 2027

Tesla's Cybercab, a self-driving vehicle concept, is on display in the UK for the first time at London's Shepherd's Bush Westfield. This showcases Tesla's vision for a global fleet of autonomous vehicles.

Unveiled just over a month after its launch in the US, the Cybercab and its larger counterpart, the Robovan, operate without steering wheels or pedals, relying on artificial intelligence and cameras instead of traditional lidar sensors.

Elon Musk highlighted the potential benefits of self-driving technology, stating, "Think about the cumulative time that people spend in a car... they can now spend on their books or watching a movie or doing work or whatever." The Cybercab features a minimalist interior with two seats, a large central touchscreen, and no rear window.

Tesla aims to produce the Cybercab by 2027, with a projected price of $30,000 (£23,000). Plans for the Robovan remain uncertain, and there are no confirmed timelines for launching these vehicles outside the US.

Before production, Tesla plans to have its full self-driving (FSD) technology certified for the Model 3 and Model Y by 2025, transitioning from 'supervised' to 'unsupervised' driving capabilities.
