Cumbria Sports Awards 2025 Set to Celebrate Local Sporting Talent

The Cumbria Sports Awards 2025 will return with a glamorous dinner event on February 28, 2025, at Energus, Workington. This year’s awards are made possible through a partnership between Newsquest Cumbria and Active Cumbria, with sponsorship from Fibrus, a company dedicated to supporting grassroots sports in the region.

Colin Hutchinson, CFO at Fibrus, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting the company's commitment to enhancing the health and wellbeing of local children and young people. Fibrus has invested nearly £40,000 into grassroots sports across Cumbria, supporting clubs from Carlisle to Grange United FC.

The awards will recognize various categories, including the Rising Star Award, Sports Personality Award, and Coach of the Year Award. Each category aims to celebrate not only individual achievements but also the contributions of coaches, volunteers, and community sports organizations.

Emily Wood, Sales Director at Newsquest Cumbria, emphasized the importance of these awards in honoring the dedication and talent present in the county's sporting community. Richard Johnston from Active Cumbria noted that this will be the first physical awards presentation in five years, marking a significant return to tradition.

The event aims to foster community spirit and highlight the vital role of sports in enhancing local lives. Nominations are currently being sought to ensure that deserving individuals and organizations are recognized for their contributions to the sports landscape in Cumbria.
