Severe Weather Alerts in India, Nov 27

As Thanksgiving approaches in the United States, Boston residents are preparing for a mix of weather conditions. The National Weather Service forecasts mostly sunny skies with highs around 49 degrees Fahrenheit on Wednesday, November 27. However, a 30 percent chance of rain is expected after 4 a.m., with temperatures dropping to approximately 35 degrees at night.

On Thanksgiving Day, the weather in Boston is predicted to remain mostly sunny until a storm system brings rain after 7 a.m. The rain may intensify throughout the afternoon and evening, accompanied by gusty east winds reaching up to 21 mph, with peak gusts potentially hitting 40 mph.

In western Massachusetts and southwestern New Hampshire, snowfall of 1 to 5 inches is also anticipated. Rain is likely to continue into Thursday night, with minimal chances of an immediate freeze as the storm gradually departs. Wind gusts are expected to persist, reaching 40 mph at times, but conditions are forecasted to clear by the weekend.

Meanwhile, in India, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rains due to Cyclone Fengal affecting Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. An orange alert has also been declared for very heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam over the next three days. The Indian Coast Guard is coordinating with state agencies to ensure the safety of seafarers in response to the deep depression in the southwest Bay of Bengal.

In Puducherry, Education Minister Arumugam Namassivayam announced a holiday for all government and private schools, as well as colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal on November 28.
