Data Management Set to Transform AI Development by 2025

As interest in AI development escalates, proper data management is becoming increasingly vital. According to Tony Baer, principal at dbinsight, 2025 is expected to mark a significant shift in how enterprises govern, store, prepare, and analyze data.

Baer stated, "I see 2025 being the year of the renaissance of data." He emphasized that as AI projects progress towards production, organizations will refocus on data management.

The demand for AI-powered applications has surged since the launch of ChatGPT by OpenAI, which significantly advanced generative AI capabilities. Companies like Anthropic, Google, Meta, and Mistral are competing to enhance large language model technology.

However, without proprietary data, these models hold limited value. The integration of generative AI with an organization’s data is essential for optimizing decision-making and efficiency.

To support this growth, businesses are expected to prioritize data lakehouses, data catalogs, and governance while focusing on operationalizing unstructured data.

Yigal Edery, senior vice president of product and strategy at Sisense, noted that AI will redefine traditional business intelligence. He remarked, "In 2025, AI will completely obliterate the boundaries of traditional BI, enabling anyone to develop and use analytics without specialized knowledge." Emerging AI-driven platforms are anticipated to make analytics more intuitive, streamlining user interaction.
