Islamabad hosted the fourth round of bilateral political consultations between Pakistan and Denmark on November 13, 2024. This meeting marks a crucial step in enhancing cooperation between the two countries, with senior officials from both sides in attendance.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Additional Foreign Secretary for Europe, Shafqat Ali Khan, while the Danish side was headed by State Secretary for Foreign Policy, Lisbet Zilmer-Johns. Discussions included a thorough review of bilateral cooperation, addressing political relations, trade and investment, climate change, renewable energy, infrastructure development, and people-to-people contacts.
Both nations expressed satisfaction with the progress in their relations and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining momentum. They underscored the importance of close coordination on mutual interests, particularly in multilateral forums.
Significantly, the two countries plan to celebrate the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations this year, underscoring their long-standing ties. Moreover, the meeting led to a decision to explore new avenues for collaboration in green technologies, guided by the Green Framework Engagement Agreement signed in September 2022. This initiative aims to enhance cooperation in sustainable technologies, aligning with global climate change efforts.
Looking ahead, the next round of Pakistan-Denmark Bilateral Political Consultations is set to occur in Denmark on mutually agreed dates, further solidifying the ongoing dialogue and partnership between the two nations.
