Severe Flooding in Bolivia Displaces Residents and Causes Injuries

LA PAZ, Bolivia, Nov 25 - Heavy rainfall overnight caused the Pasajahuira river to overflow, flooding the Bajo Llojeta neighborhood on the outskirts of La Paz. Many residents remain trapped in their homes as rescue teams work to reach them.

Local authorities report that at least 26 people have sustained injuries and over 40 houses have been damaged by the flood. Efforts to evacuate residents are underway, with approximately 300 military personnel deployed to assist in the rescue and cleanup operations.

The municipal president of Bajo Llojeta, Julieta Clavijo, expressed concern for a missing 4-year-old girl, stating that residents had to escape through their roofs due to rising mud levels. President Luis Arce visited the affected area, promising to conduct necessary restoration work and to investigate the disaster's causes.

In addition to the flooding in Bolivia, heavy rainfall has also impacted Central America, leading to significant disruptions in Honduras and damaging Costa Rica's coffee crop.
