Vietnam Set to Launch 5G Network

Vietnam is on the verge of launching its first commercial 5G network, with Viettel expected to make the announcement on October 15, coinciding with the company's 20th anniversary. This development follows extensive 5G trials across 55 cities since 2020, positioning Vietnam among the early adopters of this advanced technology.

Users in major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have already begun experiencing 5G connectivity, with speeds reaching approximately 300 Mbps—three times faster than 4G. Viettel is offering various 5G packages starting from 135,000 VND (around $5.40) per month for 4GB of daily data, and plans to expand its offerings further.

The Vietnamese government aims to enhance 5G coverage significantly, targeting 5% of the population by 2025 and 100% by 2030. With 5G's ability to support high data speeds and low latency, it is expected to drive innovations in AI and cloud computing, thereby transforming industries and boosting economic growth.

Experts highlight that Vietnam's early commercialization of 5G places it among global leaders in telecommunications, paving the way for enhanced connectivity and technological advancement across various sectors.
