Kia Sportage Updates: Bold Design and Enhanced Powertrains Unveiled in South Korea

The updated Kia Sportage has launched in South Korea, featuring a bolder design and updated powertrains.

Key design changes align the Sportage with Kia's EV lineup, including column-shaped headlights and a modified front grille. The rear boasts new headlights and a prominent bumper.

Inside, a new 12.3-inch curved touchscreen infotainment system is powered by an updated version of Kia's CCNC, complemented by a two-spoke steering wheel and extensive LED dashboard lighting.

Enhanced soundproofing around the middle risers and doors contributes to a smoother ride experience.

The Sportage retains the 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, with mild hybrid versions now featuring an eight-speed automatic transmission. The full hybrid model sees a 5 hp increase in its electric motor, aiding smoother acceleration. Regenerative braking is adjustable via paddle shifters, and an Infant driving mode minimizes motion sickness for rear passengers.

Both engine variants deliver 177 hp and 265 Nm of torque. The updated model is expected to reach the UK market next year, starting at £29,390.
