Audacy has introduced its first FM radio station in Denver, marking a significant step in AI-powered broadcasting. Front Range Country 103.1 is the first commercial radio station in the U.S. to fully integrate artificial intelligence technologies into its operations, utilizing the Super Hi-Fi cloud-based Program Director Radio Operating System.

The Super Hi-Fi suite automates key aspects of radio production, including scheduling, content curation, and audio processing, allowing for a seamless and more dynamic listening experience. This AI-driven system enables automated music and imaging scheduling, reducing manual workload and allowing staff to focus on enhancing content and listener engagement.

According to Clay Walker, VP of Content Operations at Audacy, the introduction of AI optimizes human-led programming. By automating scheduling tasks, broadcasters can allocate more time to creative storytelling, live shows, and audience interaction, ultimately improving the quality of radio programming.

The station operates primarily in the cloud, minimizing the need for physical broadcast equipment and streamlining station management. Additionally, the Orban 5950 processor ensures high-quality audio processing and metadata management, contributing to a smoother and more efficient broadcasting workflow.

This launch represents a landmark moment for U.S. radio broadcasting, demonstrating the potential of AI in transforming traditional media operations. As AI-driven radio expands, it could redefine the future of content delivery, automation, and listener engagement across the industry.
