Figure AI's humanoid robot, Figure 02, has been delivered to its first commercial customer, according to CEO Brett Adcock's announcement on LinkedIn. The robot is currently operational, though the identity of the customer remains undisclosed.
Figure 02 is among the first humanoid robots to be employed in commercial settings, joining the ranks of Digit from Agility Robotics. The robot was publicly unveiled in October 2023, following initial testing with BMW.
After the successful trials, Figure 02 was refined and tested again at BMW's Spartanburg facility in August 2024, where it autonomously handled metal parts.
To enhance its collaborative capabilities, Figure AI partnered with OpenAI, enabling Figure 02 to respond to natural language commands and perform tasks autonomously. The goal is to develop the robot into a decision-making entity that can communicate effectively with human workers.
Figure AI has not disclosed the price of Figure 02 or details about the commercial client.
