Anthropic PBC has launched a new feature for its AI chatbot, Claude, enabling it to write and execute JavaScript code for data analysis. This tool, currently in preview, allows Claude to analyze data, perform complex calculations, and create visualizations.
According to Anthropic, this enhancement transforms Claude into a more effective data analyst. It systematically processes data by cleaning, exploring, and analyzing it step-by-step to ensure accurate results.
The feature is accessible through Claude.ai and builds on the capabilities of the upgraded Claude 3.5 Sonnet model. Users can upload CSV files, PDFs, and other formats to generate dynamic visualizations, including interactive graphs and charts.
For instance, sales professionals can upload global performance data to create trend charts, while engineers can analyze server logs for resource utilization insights. Claude can also suggest follow-up questions and modifications to the generated charts, enhancing user interaction.
This new tool expands Claude's coding abilities, providing well-reasoned, mathematically precise, and reproducible answers.
