Osman Gurcu Sets New Axe Throwing Record on February 4, 2025

In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Osman Gurcu, a 43-year-old from Turkey, has set a new Guinness World Record for axe throwing by successfully hitting a target from a distance of 183 feet and 8.72 inches. This achievement surpasses the previous record of 164 feet, marking Gurcu's eighth world record.

Gurcu expressed his exhilaration at breaking the record, stating, 'It was an incredible feeling to break the record because the distance is very far, and you have to be able to get far, and at the same time, the axe has to get stuck in the target board.' Despite numerous attempts where the axe failed to stick, Gurcu's perseverance led to this record-breaking moment.

He noted that adverse weather conditions, including cold and wet conditions, limited his practice opportunities leading up to the attempt. Nonetheless, Gurcu remains passionate about setting new records and regularly monitors the Guinness World Records site for new challenges.
