Idris Elba to Star in 'Things Fall Apart' TV Adaptation

Idris Elba is set to star as Okonkwo in a new television adaptation of Chinua Achebe's acclaimed novel Things Fall Apart, produced by David Oyelowo's A24. The project is currently in early development, with no writer or streaming platform announced yet.

Originally published in 1958, Things Fall Apart explores pre-colonial life in Igboland, Nigeria, through the story of Okonkwo, a respected leader and warrior. The novel is a cornerstone of African literature and has sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

Elba, known for his powerful performances, will also produce the series through his company, 22Summers, alongside Gina Carter. Oyelowo will serve as a producer, with a team that includes Amanda N'Duka and others from Achebe Masterworks.
