1915 Cyclone Motorcycle Shatters Auction Records, Selling for $1.32 Million in Las Vegas

A 1915 Cyclone motorcycle roared into history at Mecum Auctions in Las Vegas, fetching a staggering $1.32 million. This sale marks the most expensive motorcycle ever sold at auction, surpassing all previous records and breaking the million-dollar barrier for the first time.

The Cyclone, one of only 14 known to exist, was designed for racing and produced between 1913 and 1916. Its innovative V-Twin engine, capable of reaching speeds of 100 mph, made it a legend in its time. However, its advanced engineering also made it fragile, leading to its short production run.

This particular Cyclone underwent an exceptional restoration by Stephen Wright, enhancing its value. The sale underscores the growing interest in vintage motorcycles as investment assets, attracting both long-time enthusiasts and new collectors. The previous record was held by a 1908 Harley-Davidson Strap Tank, sold for $935,000 in 2023. The Cyclone's sale not only broke the record but obliterated it, solidifying its place in motorcycle history.
