This new route will operate twice a week, enhancing access to the Aseer region, known for its stunning natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage.

The reinstatement of this route brings Qatar Airways’ total destinations in Saudi Arabia to 11, including popular cities like Jeddah, Medina, and Riyadh. Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways, expressed excitement about the resumption, highlighting that the airline connects over 36,000 passengers weekly between Saudi Arabia and Doha, thereby strengthening cultural and economic ties between the two nations.

Mr. Majid Khan, CEO of the Air Connectivity Program, emphasized the importance of this partnership in promoting tourism and enhancing the Kingdom's air connectivity. The new flights not only facilitate travel for tourists but also open doors for global visitors to explore the unique experiences that Aseer offers.

Eng. Ali Masrahi, CEO of Cluster 2 Airports Company, noted that these direct flights align with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, aiming to enhance tourism and create job opportunities. By improving accessibility to the Aseer region, the initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the local economy and showcase the Kingdom's diverse offerings.

The goal is to welcome 9.1 million annual visitors by 2030, transforming the region into a thriving destination for global travelers.

With Qatar Airways linking Abha to its extensive global network, travelers can expect exceptional journeys and world-class services, with seamless access to over 170 destinations via Hamad International Airport, recognized as the World's Best Airport in 2024. This initiative not only enhances travel options but also sets the stage for a vibrant future in Aseer’s tourism landscape.
