Furry Friends Join the Halloween Fun: Costumes and Celebrations for Pets

Halloween is not just for humans anymore! Many pet owners are getting their furry friends involved in the spooky season by dressing them up in adorable costumes. From pumpkins to superheroes, pets are stealing the spotlight this Halloween.

In Manila, a cat named Vito is celebrating his first Halloween with his owner, Danielle Baranda. Vito, an orange Doll Face Persian kitten, is dressed as a cute carrot. Danielle chose this costume because it matched Vito's fur color, making it a fun and exciting choice for their first holiday together.

Meanwhile, in the U.S., a trio of golden retrievers won a Halloween costume contest dressed as the “paw-erpuff girls.” Their owner, Arianna, finds joy in dressing them up, stating, "They are cute when they are plain and even more so when I dress them up." According to a survey, pet owners in the U.S. are expected to spend around $710 million this year on Halloween costumes for their pets.

Not all pet costumes come with a hefty price tag. Some owners are opting for DIY costumes to save money while showcasing their creativity. For instance, a Pekingese Shih Tzu named Moca has impressed many with her homemade costumes, including a fast-food french fry outfit made from recycled materials.

In addition to home celebrations, local businesses are also joining in on the fun. Armada Brewing in New Haven hosted a Halloween event where pets paraded in their costumes, receiving treats and Halloween-themed toys. Owner John Kraszewski aimed to create a fun atmosphere while raising awareness for the local animal shelter.

As Halloween approaches, whether through DIY costumes or community events, it’s clear that pets are becoming a big part of the festivities. Pet owners are finding joy in dressing up their furry companions, creating lasting memories and smiles for everyone involved.
