Venezuela and Vietnam Strengthen Ties in High-Level Meetings

From October 30 to November 1, 2024, Executive Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez Gomez, conducted an official visit to Vietnam, engaging with key leaders including Party General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, and Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan.

During a reception hosted by To Lam, he expressed gratitude for Venezuela's solidarity during Vietnam's historical struggles and acknowledged recent achievements in Venezuela, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in various sectors. Lam called for enhanced collaboration in energy, agriculture, and tourism, while also advocating for mutual support in multilateral forums.

Rodriguez Gomez conveyed greetings from President Nicolas Maduro and praised Vietnam's economic reforms, considering them a model for Venezuela. She reiterated Venezuela's commitment to strengthening ties with Vietnam, particularly in Asia.

State President Cuong and Rodriguez Gomez discussed enhancing high-level exchanges and cooperation, agreeing on the importance of educating younger generations to foster friendship. They committed to addressing challenges in bilateral relations and maintaining support for each other in international organizations.

Both leaders agreed to convene the 4th Vietnam-Venezuela Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee meeting and the 10th deputy foreign minister-level political consultation, aiming to advance their collaborative agreements and establish a robust legal framework for diverse partnerships.

In their discussions, they acknowledged the necessity of resolving international disputes peacefully and in accordance with international law.
