China's Electric Bus Giant Yutong Unveils 26-Meter Bi-Articulating Bus in Mexico

A Chinese company, Yutong, has unveiled a 26-meter-long bi-articulating electric bus in Mexico. This is the first of its kind in the world, according to Yutong. The bus is designed to meet the growing demand for large-capacity and low-energy buses in Mexico, and is expected to contribute to the modernization of urban public transport in the country and across Latin America.

Mexico currently has the fourth-largest electric bus fleet in Latin America, with 744 buses in operation, the majority of which are manufactured by Yutong. This latest sale further demonstrates China's expanding economic influence, which some studies suggest is linked to a "substantial reduction" in moderate poverty in nations it engages with.

Yutong has already revolutionized public transit in China, with government subsidies helping to make electric buses widespread. Now, the company is targeting international markets, supplying over a quarter of all European electric buses.
