Hurricane Milton Recovery Continues in Florida as Tropical Storm Leslie Forms in the Atlantic

In Florida, recovery efforts are ongoing following the devastation caused by Hurricane Milton, which brought heavy rainfall and flooding to the region. Residents are still dealing with the aftermath as floodwaters recede. The state has also recently faced Hurricane Helene, adding to the challenges for those affected.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Leslie is currently swirling in the Atlantic Ocean, posing no immediate threat to land. As of October 12, 2024, the storm is moving northeast at approximately 24 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph. It is expected to pass near or over the Azores by late Sunday or Monday morning.

Additionally, another tropical system, designated AL94, has been identified near the Cabo Verde Islands. Although it has shown some organization, environmental conditions are expected to hinder further development. A short-lived tropical depression could still form as it moves westward, but significant development is not anticipated in the coming week.
