Hezbollah Launches Drone Attacks on Israeli Military Base Amid Escalating Conflict

On October 12, 2024, Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shiite militant group, announced that it launched drone attacks on an Israeli military base in Haifa, a major port city in northern Israel. The group specified that the attacks occurred at 8:00 PM local time on October 11.

In addition to the drone strikes, Hezbollah reported launching eight missile and projectile attacks on Israeli positions in various locations, including Kfar Giladi and Honin. This escalation follows ongoing Israeli airstrikes targeting cities in southern Lebanon, which have resulted in significant destruction and casualties.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified over the past year, with recent bombings leading to over 2,200 deaths and 1.2 million displaced individuals. Iran remains a key ally of Hezbollah, supporting a coalition of anti-Israel groups known as the Axis of Resistance, which includes Hamas and Houthi rebels from Yemen.
