Mitsubishi Fuso Negotiates Large-Scale Production of Solar-Powered EVIG Vehicle in Portugal

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck Europe (MFTE) is in negotiations to produce the solar-powered EVIG vehicle from Clean Motion at its Tramagal factory in Portugal, as confirmed by a company official on October 9, 2024.

The letter of intent, signed on September 23, 2024, marks the beginning of discussions regarding the cooperation on vehicle assembly and parts sourcing locally. The Japanese multinational, which operates the plant, is currently assessing the feasibility of this venture.

Clean Motion's CEO, Ulf Rask, expressed that this partnership represents a significant step towards scaling up EVIG production, which boasts a top speed of 60 km/h and a range of 100 to 200 kilometers. The vehicle's production capacity in Sweden is currently limited to 600 units annually.

If evaluations prove positive, Clean Motion aims to either assemble or fully produce the EVIG in Portugal to better serve markets in Portugal, Spain, and nearby countries.

In 2023, the Tramagal factory achieved its best production year, manufacturing 12,075 units and generating a revenue of 334 million euros, further solidifying its role as a key player in the European automotive market.
