Nvidia and Krafton have introduced a revolutionary on-device AI technology that enhances character interactions in video games, starting with the popular PUBG franchise and the upcoming life simulator, inZOI.

This Small Language Model (SLM) operates locally on users' devices, ensuring data privacy and improved responsiveness. It allows for the creation of Co-Playable Characters (CPCs) that can communicate and strategize with players, significantly enhancing gameplay.

Krafton's head of deep learning, Kang-Wook Lee, highlighted the potential of CPCs to engage players in a more immersive experience, showcasing how these characters can assist in tactical gameplay during battle royale matches.

In the game inZOI, players will interact with dynamic characters known as 'Zois,' who exhibit realistic behaviors based on their experiences and choices. Each Zoi is driven by around 600 mental data points, creating a rich simulation of life.

This innovative technology marks a significant advancement in gaming, redefining the role of AI in entertainment and paving the way for more engaging player experiences.
