Amazon Develops New AI Model Olympus to Reduce Dependency on Anthropic

Amazon has developed a generative artificial intelligence model named Olympus that can process text, images, and videos. This new model aims to decrease the company's reliance on the chatbot Claude from Anthropic, a significant player in Amazon Web Services.

The Olympus model will enable users to search for specific scenes in images and videos using simple text prompts, such as finding a successful basketball shot.

Last week, Amazon invested an additional $4 billion into Anthropic, matching a previous investment made in September 2023, to leverage generative AI technology.

Amazon is expected to officially introduce Olympus at its annual AWS re:Invent conference next week.
