Spanish Cycling Legend Óscar Freire Reported Missing: Three-Time World Champion Vanishes

Three-time World Champion road racing cyclist Óscar Freire has been reported missing by his family. The Spanish Civil Guard is currently searching for the 48-year-old, who was last seen at least 24 hours before his disappearance.

Freire, a renowned sprinter, is known for his record-equalling three World Championship victories in 1999, 2001, and 2004. He shares this achievement with cycling legends Alfredo Binda, Rik Van Steenbergen, and Eddy Merckx.

Freire's career spanned from 1997 to 2012, during which he achieved numerous victories in major cycling events, including the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España. He also won the points classification at the 2008 Tour de France and secured four stage wins in the race.
