UC3M Voleibol Leganés Claims Championship Title in Historic Tournament

On January 12, the women's team of UC3M Voleibol Leganés secured the championship title in a memorable tournament, showcasing their strength and determination, particularly in four matches that culminated in thrilling tie-breaks. This victory marks UC3M Voleibol Leganés as the fourth Madrid team to win this prestigious competition. Lua Bovio, the team captain, was recognized as the tournament's best player for her outstanding leadership and performance.

To celebrate this achievement, a reception is scheduled for January 21 at 18:00 in the auditorium on Calle Alcalá, 31. The event will be attended by the General Director of Sports, Alberto Tomé González, along with the players, coaching staff, and various authorities who will honor the club's effort and dedication.

Currently led by Ildefonso García and Luis Muñoz, UC3M Voleibol Leganés is at the top of its group in the Superliga 2 femenina. If they maintain this position for the remainder of the season, the team will have the opportunity to compete in the promotion playoffs to the Liga Iberdrola, a goal they narrowly missed last season.

Since ascending to Superliga 2 femenina in 2012, the team has shown consistent progress. In 2021, they participated in Liga Iberdrola after the withdrawal of Vóley Playa Madrid, solidifying their status as one of the most promising projects in the national scene. This success is rooted in a strong youth development program, with most players emerging from the club's lower categories, where both sporting and personal growth are nurtured.

The Club Voleibol Leganés, founded in 1974, has been known by its current name since 1996, transitioning from a municipal club. In 2021, it became the club with the most athletes and coaches in the Community of Madrid. This season, UC3M Voleibol Leganés boasts a total of 21 teams, including 2 competing in national leagues and 19 in regional leagues, totaling 303 sports licenses.

This year, the club has strengthened its identity by partnering with Carlos III University of Madrid, adopting the name UC3M Voleibol Leganés. This alliance with a public educational institution reinforces the foundational values of education and development that underpin its philosophy.

With a history that blends tradition and progress, UC3M Voleibol Leganés has established itself as one of the most significant volleyball clubs in the Community of Madrid, with considerable national potential. Its management model, focused on grassroots development, and commitment to sporting and educational excellence exemplify how sports can serve as a vehicle for growth and improvement.
