Benedict Cumberbatch has joined the cast of 'Blood on Snow,' an indie adaptation of Jo Nesbo's crime thriller, replacing Tom Hardy. Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as Olav, a hitman entangled in a dangerous situation. Cary Fukunaga directs the film, which also features Eva Green, Emma Laird, and Ben Mendelsohn. Cumberbatch will play a rival mob boss known as the Fisherman. Production is set to begin at the end of the month in Latvia. The script is co-written by Nesbo and Ben Powers. 'Blood on Snow' is produced by Mike Larocca and Michael Schaefer of Department M, along with Fukunaga, Nesbo, Tracey Seaward, Niclas Salomonsson, and Dean Baker. Cumberbatch's recent projects include the Netflix miniseries 'Eric' and Guy Ritchie's 'Wife and Dog.' This new role promises to add another layer to his diverse acting career.
