NASA Reveals Deadly Exoplanet

On January 16, 2025, NASA reported the discovery of a hostile exoplanet named HD 189733 b, located approximately 64.5 light-years away in the constellation Vulpecula. This giant planet, 11% larger than Jupiter, exhibits extreme atmospheric conditions, including winds reaching up to 6,000 km/h and temperatures between 919 and 1,220 °C.

Characterized as a 'nightmare world,' HD 189733 b experiences conditions so severe that any potential visitors would face lethal rain composed of molten glass. The planet completes an orbit around its star in just 2.2 days, traveling at a velocity of 350,000 km/h.

Since its discovery in 2005, scientists have closely monitored its atmosphere. Observations indicate that the planet's deep blue color results from a hazy, burnt atmosphere filled with silicate particles. The presence of significant amounts of water vapor, oxygen, carbon monoxide, and methane has been confirmed through various telescopic studies.

Despite its seemingly Earth-like appearance, the lethal conditions of HD 189733 b challenge assumptions about habitability in exoplanets.
