In the heart of Cremona, Italy, the Cremona Urban Bees project plays a vital role in mapping the city's flora and raising awareness about biodiversity. Promoted by the Rural City Association, this initiative utilizes melissopalynological analyses to create a botanical map of Cremona, based on honey produced in urban apiaries managed by volunteers and supported by expert beekeepers.

The project aims to monitor environmental quality and enhance the urban botanical heritage. Among its activities is the 'Wild Meadows' project, which promotes the spread of native spontaneous plants and the revitalization of urban green spaces.

Recent honey samples revealed a rich diversity, primarily consisting of pollen from species such as sophora, white clover, and various crucifers like wild mustard. Detailed findings from these analyses will be presented publicly soon.

Additionally, Cremona Urban Bees is offering a course in Urban Beekeeping starting January 27, 2025. This course includes six theoretical lessons by industry experts, followed by practical experience in collective apiaries, allowing participants to work alongside seasoned beekeepers and volunteers.

Open to all with accessible fees and discounts for youth, registrations are available until January 20, 2025. Interested individuals can sign up online through the association's website.
