Bitcoin Price Stagnation Sparks Market Manipulation Concerns Amidst Institutional Inflows

Hong Kong, January 26, 2025 - Bitcoin's (BTC) price stability, despite significant institutional investment, has fueled speculation of market manipulation. Since December 18, 2024, Bitcoin has traded between $92,400 and $106,500, briefly spiking to $109,000 on January 20, following President Trump's inauguration, before returning to its established range. Samson Mow, CEO of Jan3, suggested at Consensus Hong Kong 2025 that this tight range, despite ETF inflows and retail accumulation, indicates potential price suppression. While predictions for Bitcoin's 2025 trajectory remain optimistic, ranging from $160,000 to over $180,000, the current stagnation raises concerns. The recent FTX creditor repayments, valued at Bitcoin's November 2022 price of $20,000, may also contribute to selling pressure.
