Nvidia Corporation has formed a partnership with Reliance Industries to develop advanced AI computing infrastructure in India. Announced by Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang during the Nvidia AI Summit 2024, the initiative includes the establishment of a data center utilizing Nvidia's latest Blackwell AI chips.
This collaboration aims to enhance India's position in the global AI landscape, leveraging Nvidia's existing presence in six Indian cities. The partnership will utilize tens of thousands of GPUs and comprehensive AI software platforms to support enterprises and startups across the country.
During a discussion at the summit, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, emphasized India's potential to become a global AI leader, citing the country’s extensive digital connectivity and a large pool of computer engineers. He expressed Reliance's commitment to creating a large language model in Hindi and transforming India into an AI hub.
Huang noted that India’s demographic advantage and growing tech industry provide a solid foundation for this transformation. He also recounted a previous conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the importance of India developing its own AI capabilities.
