Ukrainian President Zelensky Discusses Defense Needs and Reconstruction Conference with Italian Prime Minister Meloni

On January 9, 2025, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome to discuss Ukraine's defense needs, including the enhancement of air defense systems. Zelensky expressed gratitude for Italy's approval of the tenth military aid package, emphasizing the importance of missile quantities for Ukraine's defense.

During the meeting, Zelensky also highlighted preparations for the International Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine (URC-2025), scheduled for July 10-11 in Rome. He urged Italy to play a significant role in the reconstruction of Ukraine's historical heritage, acknowledging Italian expertise in this area.

Additionally, the leaders addressed Ukraine's aspirations for European Union membership. Prior to the meeting in Rome, Zelensky participated in the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
