European Automakers Challenge EU Tariffs on Chinese Imports

BMW, BYD, Geely, and SAIC have united to contest the EU's tariffs on Chinese car imports, which can reach up to 35.3%.

This coalition filed appeals against the tariffs, imposed following an investigation into state subsidies in the Chinese automotive sector.

The European Commission determined that these subsidies provided unfair financial advantages to certain Chinese manufacturers, impacting their competitiveness in Europe.

Tariffs vary based on the level of support received by manufacturers, with BYD facing a lower tariff of 17% in addition to the standard 10% import duty.
