Volkswagen is set to introduce hybrid versions of its Tiguan and Atlas SUVs in North America, though the timeline remains uncertain.
Martin Sanders, a VW executive, confirmed at the Los Angeles auto show that dealers are eager for hybrids, stating, "Hybrids will come." However, it is unclear whether North America will receive standard hybrids or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
The uncertainty is influenced by potential changes in US policies under the new presidential administration. The third-generation 2025 Tiguan will debut early next summer without hybrid options.
The Tiguan is VW's best-selling model, contributing significantly to sales in the US, Canada, and Mexico. The company also plans to develop hybrid versions for the Atlas SUV.
